Mermaid names go wrong when they reach for pretty and land on a shampoo brand. The older sea folklore is colder than that, and these thirty lean toward it: names built from water, weather and the things that wash up. Draw one for a character who is not necessarily friendly, which the original stories very much were not. Writers can draw twice and use the pair as sisters, since almost every good sea tale eventually has two.
