Streaming algorithms are very good at giving you more of what you already like, which is how taste quietly narrows without anybody noticing. Counter it: draw a genre, spend a week with it, build a playlist of ten tracks you would defend. Thirty-five genres here, broad enough to be a real week of listening rather than a micro-subgenre with nine recordings in it. The same constraint works if you make music: write something in whatever style comes up, badly, and see what survives.
