Invented Norse-sounding names tend to give themselves away immediately, because the real ones follow patterns a made-up name rarely gets right. These forty come from the saga tradition, which means they carry actual history and read as plausible to anybody who has been near the material. Half are recognisable, half are not, and the unfamiliar ones are usually the better draw.
